A stakeholders meeting for the support of the Atiku presidential campaign in Niger State was held this afternoon in Minna. Over 40 party members from different parts of the state across, the twenty-five council areas attended the meeting held at the instance of Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu.

The meeting was informed that the name of the meeting/group is Nigerlites For Atiku and Okowa. It is to streamline the campaigns for the presidential election of Atiku and Okowa.

The meeting looked at and discussed ways to redress the trend of failures recorded by the PDP in the 2015 and 2019 presidential elections in Niger State.

The convener of the meeting lamented that in 2019, despite giving N1.3 billion to Niger state PDP for his presidential campaign, Atiku Abubakar got a paltry 208, 000 votes as against Buhari who gave nothing for his election campaign in the state yet he got over 608,000 votes.

The convener of the meeting reminded those at the meeting that their expected role is to complement the role of the party and its leadership in the state.

“Your selection to serve in delivering success for Atiku is a job that must be done with a clear sense of responsibility.

He sought to know what could be done by all present to change the tide and trend of defeats suffered by the PDP in the presidential election in the state.

He suggested that there should be monitoring groups in each of the 274 wards of the twenty-five Local Governments areas.

He said the mobilization for support and campaigns should start at polling units, ward levels, and Local Government levels across the state.

He enjoined members to be committed without expecting inducements from him or Atiku because according to him, victory for the party is a victory for all members of the PDP.

Responses by participants to the question brought out several inputs. Participants advised that Coordinators for zones, Senatorial Districts, Local Government Areas, and the state level should be put in place quickly.

A contributor said the responsibility reposed in the convener is such huge that the victory of Atiku in the next presidential election is hinged on the convener of the meeting.

He, therefore, pleaded with all the stakeholders to assist and make contributions to ensure victory for Atiku.

Another contributor advised that the leader of the party in the state and convener of the meeting should call a meeting with the leadership of the party in the state to forge the way forward.

This he noted was necessary to draw a line from the past and explore ways for a fresh agenda for the victory of Atiku.

Another contributor suggested that all the various Atiku Campaign Groups in the state should be harnessed into one umbrella for control and easy management.

A seven-man committee was empaneled to coordinate the campaign activities for Atiku 2023 presidential election in the state.

Various other sub-committees were raised as part of the campaign strategy for the success of Atiku’s/Okowa’s presidential bid.
