Security operatives storm palace after Sanusi’s removal

Admin March 9, 2020

Emir Sanusi Lamido

Muhammadu  Sanusi

Security operatives have stormed the palace of Muhammadu  Sanusi shortly after his removal from office.

The dethronement of the Emir on Monday followed the State Council executive meeting presided over by the Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The Secretary to the State Government, Usman Alhaji, announced this on Monday at the State Executive Council meeting which held at the Government House in Kano.

Alhaji explained that the state government took the decision to remove the traditional ruler over allegations of consistently refusing to abide by instructions given to him.

Recall that the embattled emir was alleged to be involved in N2.2billion land scam by Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission, a fresh investigation over allegation of illegal sales of landed property where it issued the Emir an invitation to appear before it on March 5, 2020, for interrogations.

Channels Television reports that the team of security personnel at the traditional ruler’s palace included men of the Nigeria Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
