Scores of bandits have been killed as a result of a heavy fight between two bandit groups in a Dajin Haja, a forest between Hayin Alhaji and Munhaye Forest after the Yan-Ware axis of the Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamfara State.

A resident of the area Samaila Adamu told Channels Television on Sunday that the two bandit groups engaged in a fierce gunfight on Saturday where scores died.

According to him, a group of bandits from neighbouring Katsina State invaded some communities in Zamfara State with about 41 motorcycles to kidnap the residents.

He said the notorious bandits’ kingpin Ado Alero who is an indigene of the area and operates from Munhaye Forest intervened and refused to allow the rival bandit groups to kidnap the villagers.

Samaila Adamu added that the two rival groups engaged in a gun battle which resulted in the death of several bandits from both groups

“The bandits that came from neighbouring Katsina came with 41 motorcycles with at least two persons on each motorcycle. Ado Alero went there with his people to engage them, the place where they clashed is a border forest between Katsina and Zamfara,” he said.

“The people that came from the other side (Katsina) have sent for reinforcement. They continued the fight today. The incident happened around Saturday afternoon and they exchanged gunfire till night.”

Efforts to reach the Spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command ASP Yazid Abubakar were unsuccessful.
