Sanwo-Olu flag-off campaign in Lagos turns bloody; cameraman hit by stray bullet

Mr. Yusuff shows the bullet wound.

The flag-off campaign of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governorship candidate of APC for Lagos State in the 2019 gubernatorial election at Bishop Vining Centre, Ikeja, ended on a bloody note  when a photo journalist with Ijoba Ibile TV, Mr Abiodun Yusuff was hit by a stray bullet on his hand while covering the event.

He was rushed to the Ikeja General Hospital. Trouble started at about 1pm when Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was giving his keynote address. Before then many miscreants had taken over the ground with their trademark threats and vile language.

As Governor continued with his remarks, the miscreants began to engage in a free for all, throwing pebbles at each other. Some turned their brooms into make-shift clubs to hit at their opponents.

Police at the venue put up a gallant effort to arrest the situation even as the thugs waved their dangerous weapons to the shock of those in attendance. Police shot into the air to quell the disturbance which was already assuming a vicious dimension. It was in such melee that Mr. Abiodun Yusuff was hit by a bullet on his arm.
