Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has approved inauguration of a nine-man visitation panel for the Redeemer’s University, Ede, in Osun.

A statement by Mr Adetunji Adeleye, Deputy Director, Directorate of Corporate Affairs of the institution, on Monday in Ede, said the panel was to assess performances of the university in the last five years.

Adeleye said that Adeboye , a Visitor to the university, approved the inauguration of the  panel in line with the requirements of the university law.

He said that the requirements stipulate that the visitation panel should be constituted to assess the performances of the institution at five-year intervals.

The director said that the members of the panel were inaugurated by the Chairman of Board of Trustees (BoT) of the university, Pastor Olukayode Pitan, on Sept. 17, in Lagos.

Adeleye quoted Pitan as saying during the inauguration that the last panel visitation to the university was in 2019.

Pitan said that Adeboye approved the constitution of the visitation panel in compliance with the university law and global best practices.

He expressed optimism that the outcome of the exercise would assist the university to strive for greater heights.

Speaking at the occasion, Prof. Shadrach Akindele, Vice-Chancellor of the university, said the university viewed the assignment of the visitation panel as an opportunity to gain invaluable insights into how the institution had performed.

“And to as well take stock of both successes and the areas where there is need for improvement,’’ he said.

Akindele commended the chairman and members of the BoT for constituting the panel.

According to him, it is a clear demonstration of their commitment to upholding the values of quality education, transparency and accountability, especially within the unique framework of a Christian university.

In his response, Chairman of the Visitation Panel, Prof. Femi Mimiko, on behalf of the panel members appreciated the BoT chairman for the privilege and confidence reposed in them to carry out the assignment effectively.

Mimiko, a former Vice-Chancellor, Adekunle  Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, said that the panel members considered the assignment as a great honour.

He promised  that the panel members would do a thorough job that would justify the confidence reposed in them.

Mimiko solicited the cooperation of the entire university community and other relevant stakeholders, urging them to provide the panel with necessary information to facilitate their assignment.

He said that their assignment was expected to cover the period between January 2019 and December 2023 and to be concluded within eight weeks.

“Members of the panel are Prof.  Ernest Izevbigie, former Vice Chancellor of Benson Idahosa University, Benin-City, Edo State and Mr Ayorinde Ogunruku, former Registrar of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Also as member is Dr Linda Onwuka, a former Registrar of the Federal University of Petroleum, Effurum, Delta State, among others. (NAN)
