… Promises To Make Facility Affordable For Residents
Alimosho General Hospital, Igando has received a multi-million naira Intensive Care Unit (ICU) donated by the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 36.
Speaking at the handing-over of the ICU named after the General Overseer of the Church and his Wife, Enoch and Folu Adeboye Intensive Care Unit, Pastor Folu Adeboye thanked the donating Region that made the project possible.
She said that those who conceptualised the need for the ICU centre within the hospital premises were visionary men and altruistic individuals who thought that there would be a need for that level of healthcare for persons in critical health conditions.
Pastor Adeboye averred that the gesture exemplifies the Biblical injunction of the essence of the message of Christ who came to save as many lives as possible.
While appreciating the Region of the Church that made the donation possible, she said that the entire RCCG is proud of all individuals who ensured the timely delivery of the project led by the current Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr. Atinuke Onayiga, said that the RCCG has always been known for excellence, revealing that the donated ICU was one of several other generous acts of the church extended to several hospitals and government establishments across the State.
She maintained that the donated ICU was more than just a piece of medical equipment but rather a symbol of compassion and solidarity for the well-being of members of the host community.
Dr. Onayiga promised that the State Government would ensure that a high standard of medical practice is maintained within the ICU with qualified and certified specialists, just as she reiterated the commitment of the State Government to the overall well-being of every resident of the State.
The Medical Director/CEO of the Hospital, Dr. Ayodapo Soyinka said that with the commissioning of the ICU, the Centre will commence full operations by the first week in December under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), arrangement with the assistance of some medical officers from the hospital to ensure that the Centre is better managed sustainably.
He listed some of the equipment within the Centre to include, six ICU beds, electric beds, ventilators, six monitors, infusion pumps and AEDs which is the machine used to resuscitate cardiac arrest patients, among others.
Soyinka promised that the management of the hospital would try to make the ICU services very affordable, saying “We’re going to try to make it very affordable despite the PPP arrangement. What we have decided to do is to put our environment and target audience into consideration in fixing our prices. I can assure you that part of my commitment to our managing partners is that we must bring the cost down below what the current market rate is”.
Giving an overview of the project, the Pastor in Charge of Region 36, the Donor Church, Pastor Dele Jayeoba, said “Our parents in the Lord always desire the best, and our pastors are a testament to their kindness.
“As the leader of the Christian Church of God in Region 36, I am proud to have an exceptional team of pastors who are not only loyal but also dedicated and hardworking. Together, we share a vision for a Big Bang Regional CSR, and our pastors immediately embrace the idea.”
He said the Region is motivated by the exemplary conduct of the leadership of the church through Pastor Adeboye who always insists that churches should be socially responsible to their host communities through donation of items that meet the needs of the populace.
He expressed the hope that the donated items will in no small measure reduce the avoidable of innocent lives due to the inability to access an ICU within their reach.
Other dignitaries in attendance at the event include Commissioner I of Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr. Olumuyiwa Solanke; Commissioner II, Dr. Bolaji Olukoya; Permanent Secretary of Health Service Commission, Dr. Benjamin Eniayewun who was represented by Dr. Lara Oyadotun and, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, among others.
