The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory said Mr Jide Oyekunle, a Photojournalist was not arrested, but taken away from a apparent unsafe environment during the ongoing protest.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT, SP Josephine Adeh, said this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

She said the story making the rounds about the arrest of the photojournalist during the ongoing protest around the eagle square was not true.

According to her, Oyekunle had failed to heed to the advice of the police to leave where he was standing to a safer location when the protesters suddenly become violent.

“While the protest is ongoing, it remains the duty of the police to protect lives and property,” she said. (NAN)(
