President Buhari determines to keep campaign promises – SGF

Admin November 14, 2017

November 14, 2017

Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is determined to keep its campaign promises to Nigerians.

Mustapha made this known while receiving members of the Buhari Media Support Group (BMSG) in his office on Tuesday in Abuja.

The SGF urged the BMSG to effectively publicise the activities of the government for the citizens to be informed.

He said that through the work of the group, the government would be able to give account to the people.

“We are working assiduously to deliver on the expectations of the citizens, which are overwhelming.

“But you as a media group you have a role to play and you must continue to play that role, because very soon Nigerians will start asking for a score card.

“We raised their hope; we promised them that their lives will be better, because every Nigerian has the right to a good life’’, Mustapha said.

The SGF, who thanked the group for their visit, said it was timely and served as a family re-union after the 2015 elections.

He attributed the success of the 2015 elections to the hard work of the group.

He added that in spite of the odds against the party with limited resources the group articulated their vision and sold it out to the public.

“Our victory at the polls in 2015 can substantially be attributed to the work that you did and I deeply and sincerely appreciate you.

“I have been in politics since 1988 but 2015 was the most vicious in terms of media propaganda.

“I assure you that we will share in the collective vision of my office because we have a unified mission’’, Mustapha said.

In his address, Mr Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, who led the group, described the appointment of the new SGF as the most popular the president has made so far.

He added that the appointment has been well received by the people.

According to Shehu, the expectation of the office is enormous but with God and the support of men with goodwill he will succeed.

Also, Mr Austin Braimoh, Coordinator of the BMSG, said that the visit was to felicitate and congratulate the SGF on his well deserved appointment.

Braimoh stated that the appointment was a national call on the SGF to continue in the strategic role he played in bringing this administration to power.

“The Buhari Media Support Group is an off shoot of the media publicity committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council.

“After the inauguration, the president directed that we keep and sustain this group as a unit in continuation of their activities during the campaign.

“Since then, the BMSG has remained together as volunteers, working as the informal back channel of the presidential media team and promoting the administration using several platforms.

“I will like to inform you that the BMSG serves as a transition platform for members to be involved in publicising the Federal Government activities, as duty calls, wherever and whenever you find us suitable, we are available,” Braimoh said.
