Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Cross River’s Support Coalition, has advised the National Working Committee (NWC) of PDP to present credible candidates for the 2019 general elections.

The coalition gave the advice on Thursday in Abuja during its peace rally at the party’s National Secretariat, Abuja.

The spokesman of the coalition, Mr Ken Bassey, said that the members of the coalition were at the secretariat to pledge their loyalty and support to the leadership of NWC.

He said that the visit was also to appeal to PDP leaders to ensure that its primaries ahead of 2019 general elections were free, fair and credible.

He said that for PDP to win elections, especially in Cross River governorship poll, a credible candidate should be presented.

The coalition assured the secretariat that it would promote PDP’s agenda in Cross River and ensure that the 2019 elections in the state would be different from previous ones.

It noted that although the All Progressives Congress (APC) posed serious opposition, the coalition had been working to capture the state.

“This, therefore, means that to ensure PDP emerges victorious, it must put its best forward; we, hereby, wish to appeal to the NWC to pay attention to the events that lead to the primaries.

“Help us to ensure that there will be no impunity or imposition of candidates and we need a level-playing field to ensure that only the most popular candidates emerge,’’ he said.

In his remarks, Sen. Umar Tsauri, National Secretary, PDP, pledged that there would not be any imposition in the party’s primaries.

He commended the coalition’s confidence in PDP leadership, assuring the members that the party leadership would not let them down.
