The Police Command in Lagos State has sealed a suspected illegal factory allegedly used for the production and packaging of adulterated alcoholic drinks in Badagry area of the state.
This is contained in a statement singed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abimbola Adebisi, and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Lagos.
Adebisi said the factory was discovered by operatives of the command following credible information from members of the public.
“The operation was carried out at Yafin, Badagry area, where the suspected illegal factory is located.
“The operation led to the arrest of a 48-year-old man, who was found at the premises.
“The operatives recovered suspected adulterated alcoholic drinks, empty bottles, different wine labels and various production utensils,” she said.
The PPRO said the items were suspected to have been used in the production and packaging of the adulterated alcoholic drinks.
She said the factory was subsequently sealed by the police, while the suspect was taken into custody for further investigation.
According to her, the recovered items have been taken to the police station as part of the ongoing investigation.
The spokesperson said the command would continue its efforts to curb criminal activities through intelligence-led operations across the state.
She said that the Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, Mr. Fatai Tijani, commended the operatives for their vigilance and prompt response to credible information.
“CP Tijani, while commending the operatives, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations against criminal activities in the state, ” she said.
Adebisi urged residents to continue to provide timely and credible information to the police to help prevent crimes and protect lives and property.
