The Police Command in Oyo State has rescued a kidnapped victim and arrested one suspected kidnapper linked to abductions in Otefon Village near Oyo and Amalu Village in Ahorọ Dada area of Oyo State.

The Commands’ Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Ibadan.

Olayinka said that the Ikoyi-Ile Police Division received a report of the invasion of both villages by gunmen and abduction of one Taiwo John, 40, and Usman Amadu.

He said that the kidnappers also made away with an undisclosed sum of money belonging to John’s wives as well as the victim’s Android mobile phone.

The PPRO said the Command immediately activated its anti-kidnapping response architecture, deploying tactical teams to strategic locations across the affected axis.

“Through intelligence-led surveillance, coordinated bush combing operations, and sustained operational pressure, security operatives successfully rescued one of the kidnapped victims unhurt and arrested one suspect,” he said.

According to him, the arrested suspect is currently in custody, assisting ongoing investigations aimed at dismantling the entire criminal network.

Olayinka said that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang and recover additional exhibits linked to the incidents.

He quoted the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Femi Haruna, as reassuring residents of the command’s resolve and proactive measures in confronting criminal elements threatening public safety.
