The police command in Ogun says it has rescued 80-year -old man, Rufus Odusanya and one Oluwaseye Olajide said to be kidnap victims at Edun village junction in Obafemi Owode Local Government area of the state.

SP Omolola Odutola, the Command’s Spokesperson, who disclosed this, in a statement in Abeokuta on Friday, said that the incident occurred about 3:00p.m on Thursday.

Odutola explained that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Owode Egba received an anonymous distress call reporting the kidnap of the 80-year-old man and one other.

She stated that upon getting the information , the DPO quickly mobilised his team along with local hunters to pursue the kidnap suspects.

She said that the suspects, six in number, were armed with various weapons such as rifles and cutlasses.

“The police blocked potential escape routes and confined the criminals to known security checkpoints.

“Realising that the police had interrupted their plans, the kidnappers fled the scene, leaving the two hostages behind,” she said.

The police spokesperson said that detectives were on the trail of the kidnap suspects.(NAN)
