Police operatives across the country have recorded major operational breakthroughs, repelling a bandit attack, rescuing multiple kidnap victims unharmed, and neutralizing or arresting several suspects in coordinated security responses.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, tactical teams executed swift operations across Plateau, Enugu, Katsina, Yobe, Ebonyi, Abia, and Ogun states between August 17 and 18, 2026.
In Katsina State, police tactical units successfully repelled an attack by suspected armed bandits along the Sabuwa-Marabar Yakawada Road following a sustained gunfight, preventing casualties and firearm loss.
In Enugu State, patrol teams on the Port Harcourt Expressway intercepted a five-man armed gang, rescuing three abducted victims unharmed and recovering a stolen vehicle alongside firearms, ammunition, hand gloves, and a face mask.
A separate raid on criminal hideouts in Awgu and Oji-River LGAs led to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, 55 rounds of live ammunition, three magazines, and an explosive device.
Operations in the North-East and North-Central regions also yielded critical results:
Plateau State: Following a deadly attack in Mangu LGA, police leadership conducted an on-the-spot assessment, arrested one suspect, and deployed heavy reinforcements to restore order.
Yobe State: Operatives responded to an attack by armed hoodlums in Fika LGA, neutralizing one suspect, arresting another, and recovering weapons, including bows, arrows, and charms.
In the South-East and South-West, officers thwarted ongoing criminal activities:
Ebonyi State: Operatives intercepted a kidnapping syndicate at Ebebe Junction, Abakaliki, rescuing a victim unharmed, arresting one suspect, and impounding their operational vehicle.
Abia State: A 55-year-old suspect was caught attempting to vandalize rail tracks along the Aba/Owerri railroad corridor, with a pump-action gun, vehicle, and metal cutter recovered at the scene.
Ogun State: Police responded to distress calls in Atan-Ota, forcing armed robbery suspects to flee and abandon a backpack containing stolen electronics and personal items.
The Force FPRO confirmed that the State Criminal Investigation Departments (SCID) in the respective commands have launched detailed investigations to track down fleeing suspects and prosecute those in custody.
