In a nationwide series of swift security operations on October 14, 2026, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) dealt a significant blow to criminal networks, recording major breakthroughs in the fight against terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery, and violent crimes across multiple states.

According to a comprehensive operational summary released by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the coordinated operations resulted in the neutralisation of terrorists, the rescue of multiple kidnap victims, and the arrest of numerous suspects alongside the recovery of sophisticated weaponry and illicit drugs.

In Adamawa State, combined security operatives engaged and neutralized a terrorist threat in the Garha District of Hong Local Government Area. The operation led to the recovery of four terrorists’ corpses, six AK-47 rifles, and a rocket launcher.

The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola has taken over the investigation.

Meanwhile, swift tactical responses in Gombe and Kogi states brought relief to families of abducted citizens.

In Gombe, police operatives working alongside local hunters successfully intercepted suspected kidnappers, rescuing an abducted victim unhurt and arresting one suspect while a manhunt continues for accomplices on the run.

In Kogi State, three abducted victims were secured unhurt, medically cleared, and prepared for reunification following intensive bush-combing operations.

Police formations across several other states recorded notable arrests:

Delta State: Operatives acting on actionable intelligence intercepted two armed robbery suspects targeting passengers along Osubi Road, recovering a locally made cut-to-size double-barrelled shotgun, seven live cartridges, and a jackknife.

Cross River State: Police tracked down and arrested a suspect connected to the horrific rape and armed robbery of a 22-year-old woman.

The suspect allegedly used a hammer disguised as a shortgun to intimidate the victim; the stolen Infinix Smart 7 phone was successfully recovered.

Anambra State: In a decisive push against violent secret societies, police detectives arrested 24 additional suspects linked to a recent cult clash in the state, recovering two sharpened machetes.

Nasarawa State: Detectives apprehended a suspect involved in the defilement of a 5-year-old girl. The victim received immediate medical attention and was confirmed to be in a stable condition.

Kano & Osun States: In Kano, routine patrol operatives intercepted a tricycle and arrested a suspect in possession of a fabricated revolver pistol and live ammunition.

In Osun, operatives apprehended a suspect linked to the tragic death of a 20-year-old man who was pushed into a well during a physical altercation.

Akwa Ibom State: A targeted raid on a criminal hideout in Ika LGA led to the arrest of four suspects and the seizure of large quantities of suspected Indian hemp, illicit liquor, and drug paraphernalia.

All cases have been transferred to the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments (SCIDs) for discreet and thorough investigations as the police leadership reinforces its commitment to safeguarding lives and property nationwide.
