The Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant operational breakthroughs across nine states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), resulting in the neutralization of two suspected kidnappers, the rescue of multiple abduction victims, and the arrest of 24 suspects involved in cultism, armed robbery, and terrorism.
The updates, detailed in an official briefing released Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, outline major anti-crime interventions executed between September 19 and September 24, 2026.
Major Operational Highlights Across States
Delta State: Two suspected kidnappers were neutralised following an intense gun duel with police and local security operatives in a forest area. A female kidnap victim was rescued unhurt. In separate operations across the state, operatives arrested eight suspects, including seven suspected cultists in Owhelogbo and recovered weapons, live ammunition, and illicit drugs.
Lagos State: Four suspected armed robbers were apprehended by operatives, who recovered a pump-action shotgun with 11 cartridges and a Beretta pistol loaded with 9mm ammunition. Police also foiled a “one-chance” robbery, rescuing a female passenger unhurt.
Nasarawa State: Operatives foiled a plot to murder a kidnapping victim after ransom collection, arresting four suspects who confessed to the conspiracy. Three additional suspects were arrested in connection with cult-related attacks and homicides in Lafia, while an injured 60-year-old abduction victim was rescued and hospitalized.
Zamfara State: Hon. Nura Umar Abdullahi, the executive chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area, successfully escaped from bandit captivity and was immediately admitted to a medical facility for treatment.
Adamawa State: A joint operation involving police, military, and allied security forces repelled an attack by invading terrorists, restoring calm to affected communities while ongoing combing operations continue.
Abia & Ogun States: Acting on intelligence, police in Abia arrested a wanted suspect linked to serial armed robberies and kidnappings. In Ogun, anti-crime patrol operatives arrested a suspect for the abduction and defilement of a missing 16-year-old girl.
Federal Capital Territory: Police rescued two young children abandoned for several days and arrested their mother, recovering illicit substances from her custody.
CSP Iniedu confirmed that all suspects and recovered exhibits including firearms, ammunition, edged weapons, and drugs have been transferred to the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments (SCIDs) and CID Abuja for further investigation and prosecution.
