The Police Command in Kano State on Tuesday disclosed the arrest of a suspected drug trafficker and recovered a substantial quantity of cannabis sativa.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, operatives of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) detained one Ibrahim Mohammed of Rijiyar Zaki Quarters, Kano.

He was found in possession of five bags and 297 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa.

He explained that investigations were ongoing to apprehend his accomplices and recover additional exhibits.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, commended the officers for their dedication and bravery and ordered that the probe be concluded promptly so the suspects face the full weight of the law.

The command appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or the command’s emergency numbers: 08032419754, 08123821575, or 09029292926.

It reassured the residents of its continued commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state.
