The Police command in Ondo State has apprehended a 25-year-old suspected quack doctor for operating an illegal clinic in Ore, Ore/Odigbo Local Government Area.

The arrest is confirmed in a statement on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh.

Jimoh said the arrest was part of intensified efforts to dismantle medical criminal networks operating across the state.

He explained that the suspect, Idris Nasiru, was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation by the command’s Surveillance Team.

“A search of his shop led to the recovery of injection needles, medical drips, bandages and assorted medical kits.

“Further searches of his residence recovered used injection bottles, needles and syringes, following a duly signed search warrant,” he said.

According to him, preliminary investigations showed the suspect was not a registered medical practitioner, confirming the clinic was operated illegally.

Jimoh said the suspect had made useful statements in custody and would be charged to court after investigations.

He said the Commissioner of Police urged residents to provide credible information to assist efforts against crime and criminality.

The police also advised the public to exercise caution when seeking medical services to avoid falling victim to quacks.
Jimoh assured residents that the command remained committed to eradicating medical crimes in all forms.
