The Police Command in Ondo State says it has arrested two suspected kidnappers, and recovered firearms and live ammunition in Odo Ala, Ayede Town in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.

DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the command’s Spokesperson, made this known in a statement on Friday in Akure, saying the breakthrough was part of the command’s sustained efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.

“On Feb. 12 at about 0948hrs, operatives of Tactical Intelligence Response Squad, acting on credible intelligence, carried out a targeted operation in the area.
.
“During the operation, two suspects were apprehended, namely Okotie Phillip and Michael Akinjisoye.

“A thorough search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of one single-barrel rifle and 18 live cartridges concealed in their possession,” Jimoh said.

He explained that the suspects had been taken into custody, where they made useful statements that were currently aiding ongoing investigations.

The spokesperson, therefore, said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the suspected cohorts and uncover the full extent of their criminal activities.

Jimoh said the state Commissioner of Police (CP), Adebowale Lawal, commended the operatives for their prompt and professional conduct, and underscored the importance of intelligence-led operations in combating kidnapping activities.

He said the CP also reassured residents of the state that the command remained resolute and would leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of lives and property across the state.
