The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has recorded a series of operational successes across several states, leading to the rescue of an abducted victim, the arrest of multiple crime suspects, and the recovery of illegal firearms, stolen property, and vandalised state assets.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed the nationwide achievements in an official statement released from the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday, September 28, 2026.
According to the police spokesperson, the operations took place between September 26 and September 27 across Kogi, Bauchi, Taraba, Delta, Anambra, Gombe, Nasarawa, Akwa Ibom, and Imo states.
Kidnap Rescue and Clearance Operations
In Kogi State, joint security forces successfully rescued an abducted male victim unhurt on September 26 following a sustained bush-combing operation.
The abductors were forced to flee into the forest after security operatives deployed teargas.
Police confirmed that clearance operations are ongoing at identified blackspots to track down and apprehend the fleeing perpetrators.
In Delta State, patrol operatives mobilized to an abduction scene at Owen Village in Ughelli on September 26, evacuating an injured victim to the hospital for treatment and recovering a motorcycle.
Intensive bush-combing operations remain underway to rescue another abducted victim and arrest the suspects.
Murder, Assault, and Cultism Arrests
Police operatives in Bauchi State arrested a suspect following a reported assault at the Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate on September 27, recovering the weapon used in the attack.
Similarly, in Gombe State, detectives arrested a suspect linked to a violent attack at Koran Zaki Quarters, while in Delta State, police visited a stabbing scene in Okpanam and took the murder suspect into custody.
In Anambra State, police tactical teams responding to a distress call regarding suspected cult activity at Fegge, Onitsha, successfully arrested one suspect on September 27.
Meanwhile, Taraba State police operatives restored order after a violent disturbance at UMCN Church, Kwanti Gana, arresting two suspects, including a principal mastermind found with a knife and hammer.
Arms and Illicit Goods Intercepted
In Nasarawa State, intelligence-led operations on September 27 led to the arrest of a suspect in possession of an unlawful firearm, resulting in the recovery of a locally made revolver pistol and live ammunition in Lafia.
Operatives in the state also recovered another locally made pistol, a live round, and empty shells while investigating a fatal road accident.
In Akwa Ibom State, officers on stop-and-search duty intercepted a suspect transporting five cartons containing 120 bottles of adulterated dry gin, with additional exhibits subsequently recovered from the suspect’s home.
Foiled Vandalism and Asset Recovery
Operatives in Imo State, working alongside other security personnel, disrupted an ongoing vandalization scheme at the Water Board in Okigwe on September 27.
The fleeing suspects abandoned a truck loaded with stolen government equipment.
In Anambra State, patrol teams acting on credible intelligence intercepted suspected hoodlums conveying a stolen Toyota RAV4 SUV, forcing the criminals to abandon the vehicle and escape into the bush.
Additionally, police in Delta State arrested a driver involved in a fatal road traffic accident at Hausa Market, Okpanam, on September 26.
CSP Iniedu confirmed that all cases have been transferred to the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments (SCIDs) across the affected states for further investigation and prosecution.
