Despite continued denial by the police, the Edo Political Forum (EPF), based in Benin City, has urged the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Mohammed D. Abubakar, to investigate the malicious May 27 murder of Momodu Ibrahim, a student of the University of Benin, by police officer Carol Onyekachi Afegbai.

“The boy was murdered maliciously and animalistically by CSP Carol Onyekachi Afegbai, the Divisional Police officer (DPO) of Ogida Police Station in Edo State and the commissioner of police in Edo State alleged that the young man was an armed robber, relying on the mendacious information that was given [by] the She devil DPO,” the group said in a petition signed by Emmy Uwangue.

“The Commissioner of police continued by saying that the young student was a Bus driver and that a Cut to size Gun was found on the young man after he was shot just about 100 meters from his family’s house where he resided before Jezebel Afegbai killed him.”

The group described Afegbai as “the first daughter of the devil” who said that she had had a nightmare the day before the incident in which she personally killed two armed robbers, following which she led out a team on May 27 “looking for two imaginary armed robbers to kill, saying that her dreams always come true.”

EPF pointed out that worse was to follow, as Mr. Momodu was hurriedly buried on May 28 without the consent of the family or any close relative.  “How can you kill an innocent boy and bury him, this is another Clifford Orji in Edo state as killer DPO Carol Onyekachi Afegbai,” the petition said.

Describing Afegbai as “the richest DPO in Nigeria because of her ill-gotten wealth,” EPF demanded of the IGP, among others, that the Commissioner of Police should tender an unreserved apology to the people of Edo state for telling lies regarding the gruesome murder of a student, and also lead a delegation to commiserate with the family of the deceased.

The group also demanded that “monstrous DPO” Afegbai be dismissed and be tried for murder like other police officers who have been tried for killing innocent persons, and be investigated properly about the source of her stupendous wealth.
