The Police Comman, Katsina State has  foiled a kidnapping attempt, rescued the victims, and recovered one operational motorcycle from suspected bandits in the state.

In a statement on Wednesday, the spokesman of the Katsina Police Command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, said the incident occurred along Baure Village road in Kankara LGA at about 6:30 pm on Tuesday.

He explained that the police intervened after the Kankara Police Divisional Headquarters received a report that some suspected armed bandits had attacked motorists with the intent to kidnap them.

“Upon receipt of the report, the DPO Kankara, CSP Hassan Musa, mobilised a team of operatives to the scene, where they engaged the suspected bandits in a fierce gun duel.

Apart from repelling the attack, the police rescued one person whom the bandits had already taken captive before their arrival.

Sadiq added that the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the officers for their outstanding displays of bravery, dedication, and professionalism.

According to the statement, Musa said efforts were in top gear to arrest fleeing suspects, advising members of the public to promptly report anybody seen with a bullet wound, as some of the suspects escaped the scene with gunshot injuries.

He also urged the good people of the state, to continue to provide the command and other security agencies in the state with timely information on suspected criminal activities, to enable swift and decisive action against any recalcitrant criminal in the state.
