public and privateThe Delta State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected kidnappers believed to be part of a syndicate terrorising commuters in the state.

The suspects were apprehended on Friday during separate operations in Warri and Ughelli. Confirming the arrests on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, stated that the breakthrough was made possible through credible intelligence gathered by the command’s tactical team.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe Edafe, the first suspect was tracked down in the Ekuigbo area of Ughelli on April 24.

His arrest is linked to recent attacks on motorists along the busy Ughelli–Warri Road. Subsequent interrogation of the first suspect led detectives to a second accomplice, who was picked up at the Trailer Park along the Warri–Sapele Road.

During the operation, police recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 36 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

The PPRO confirmed that both suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue to dismantle the remainder of the kidnapping cell.
