Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have uncovered a high-tech indoor cannabis cultivation facility located within a residential property in the Apapa area of Lagos, leading to the arrest of two individuals.
The suspects, a 36-year-old Nigerian national and a 49-year-old Polish national, were apprehended on Monday morning around 8:15 a.m. following a raid triggered by credible intelligence.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, revealed that police operatives searched the residential premises and discovered an advanced indoor farming setup.
The facility was fully equipped with specialized apparatus used for cultivating, harvesting, and processing substances suspected to be cannabis.
Both suspects are currently in police custody, where they have reportedly made confessional statements and are assisting investigators with further information.
Following the raid, the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Mr. Fatai Tijani, visited the site to inspect the facility, gauge the scale of the illegal operation, and receive a direct briefing from the investigation team.
CP Tijani commended the operatives for their alertness and successful intelligence-led action. He reaffirmed the police command’s resolve to clamp down on drug trafficking, dismantle criminal syndicates, and prevent illicit operations from gaining ground across the state.
Expression of gratitude was also extended to members of the public for providing useful intelligence, with the police commissioner urging residents to maintain cooperation by continuing to share timely and credible information with security forces.
SP Adebisi assured Lagos residents that the command remains resolute and proactive in ensuring public safety, adding that investigations into the illicit operation are still ongoing.
