A 23-year-old man, Adewusi Habeeb, was, on Wednesday, arraigned before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun over alleged attempted to commit felony.

The Prosecutor, ASP Abdullahi Emmanuel, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 26 around 02:00 a.m. at Unit 3, Block 3, Bada Elusade, Opa Street, Iloro, Ile-Ife.

Emmanuel said that the defendant attempted to commit felony when he was roaming about at Unit 3, Block 3, Bada Elusade, Opa Street, Iloro, Ile-Ife.

He adding that when the defendant was caught, he could not give satisfactory account of what he was looking for in the area.

According to him, the offence contravenes Section 509 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to a count charge of attempt to commit felony.

The Defence Counsel, Mr. Wonder Okoh, applied for bail for his client in the most liberal term, promising that his client would not jump bail, but would provide responsible sureties.

Magistrate A.I. Sarumi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000, with one surety in like sum.

Sarumi said that the surety must swear to an affidavit of means, reside within court jurisdiction and be a house owner, ready to deposit the original documents of the property.

She added that the surety must produce one year tax clearance certificate and three recent passport photographs.

The case was adjourned till Feb. 20 for hearing. (NAN)
