PEPT Grants Access to Buhari, APC to Inspect Election Materials

Admin March 15, 2019

President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari
The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has granted access to President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC,  to inspect the materials used for the conduct of the February 23 presidential election.

In an ex parte application for the order of inspection, President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC had requested access to the materials to enable their defence in any petition filed by any presidential candidate not satisfied with the outcome of the election.

The tribunal said it found merit in the appeal and ordered INEC to give the plaintiffs access to the materials for the purpose of inspection and to make photocopies of same.

The Tribunal led by Justice Abdul Aboki had on 6th March, granted similar order, to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic party,  PDP, Atiku Abubakar permission to inspect the electoral materials used by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the conduct of the election to enable them to file their petition against the outcome of the poll.
