… Meets Packaged Water Producers

The Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LASWARCO) has said it is poised to enforce all the regulations and licensing in the packaged water services industry in sync with its statutory responsibilities as an agency of government.

Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mrs. ‘Funke Adepoju stated this at a meeting with the Executive members of the Association for Table Water Producers (ATWAP) held recently in Alausa, Ikeja.

The meeting, organised by the Commission to reinforce the guidelines for packaged water services, was also geared towards ensuring compliance with the Regulations governing its operations, especially by key stakeholders.

Mrs. Adepoju restated that the guidelines issued by the Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission in pursuance of the Environmental Management Protection Law of 2017 shall apply to Packaged Water Services Operators in Lagos State and shall be interpreted by the Law.

“We must continue to work together to ensure that anyone or organisation involved in water provision delivers wholesome water to Lagosians”, she said.

Adepoju informed the Association about ongoing initiatives to introduce certification plaques to licensed and compliant operators as a mark of quality assurance to be conspicuously displayed on their premises and delivery vehicles.

The Executive Secretary further disclosed that all the processes, from registration to application for a licence to the generation of unique identity, uploading of documents and payment processes will become automated and seamless,

In her remark, the Chairperson of the Association, Mrs. Omolabake Mosaku, commended the Commission for its open-door policy and expressed the willingness of the Body to continue to cooperate with the Lagos State Government.

The Chairperson said, “As law-abiding citizens, we are excited about the proposed plaques of quality assurance and are ready to comply with the Law geared towards best practices and improved service delivery as we work closely with the Commission through enhanced coordination of our members”.
