Operation Amotekun

Ondo state

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, says it has arrested two siblings, 11 suspected kidnappers, and 33 other suspects across the 18 Local Government Area of the state.

Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, Amotekun Corps Commander, made the disclosure while parading 46 suspects before newsmen on Wednesday in Akure.

Adeleye explained that two suspects were arrested under the anti-open-grazing law, while 31 were arrested for different types of criminal activities, including cultism, illegal possession of firearms, breach of peace, and other domestic criminal activities.

The commander, who said the suspected kidnappers were arrested in the government reserve area of Owo in Owo Local Government Area of the state, explained that the suspects were aged between 20 and 35 years.

“On the kidnap that took place at railroad access, we were able to arrest them. We have two brothers, Usman and Usman, and one Zakaria.

“As an informant, we have a Seidu that was arrested while preparing to buy food and other things for the kidnappers.

“We also have a 20-year-old Ayuba, and one Umaru, arrested on anti-open-grazing law from Owo local government.

“The success was recorded as a result of the Sallah patrol initiated by the corps through border control patrol, the Amotekun rangers, operational department, commander squads and all operational units of the corps.

“Across board, we are happy to say that the security stability, in conjunction with all the state security agencies, is robust to the extent that the forest combing, the clearance operation, and joint patrol goes on,” he said.

Adeleye, who said there was no hiding place for criminals in the state, advised anyone who intended to engage in criminality to rethink or face the long arm of the law. (NAN)
