Okowa Promises to Revive Technical Education in Delta

okowa and technical educationDelta State Governor, Senator lfeanyi Okowa has restated his administration’s readiness to restructure technical schools so as to build a veritable future for youths in the state.

Speaking during an inspection tour of Ofagbe Technical School in Isoko North Local Government Area, the governor explained that technical education was a major programme of his administration meant to enable youths to acquire the needed skills to empower themselves and be relevant in the society.

According to him: “Technical Education is one of our major programmes in this administration because we believe that until we get our children to acquire skill, we are not building a future for them.”

He added that Ofagbe Technical School is one of the schools his administration is renovating, revamping and restructuring to put in use, assuring that “we will take these technical schools in the state to greater heights and it will impact positively not only to the lives of the students but also to the community.”

Senator Okowa said that he was impressed with the pace of work at the school and assured the people that the school would become operational by the middle of October this year, disclosing that his administration would immediately award the contract for the construction of the female hostel, fencing of the school and a block of classroom not renovated.

“l am quiet please with the progress of work and thank the contractors on site, l assure you that this project will not be an abandoned project, we have the entire money to complete the work”, the governor said.

Senator Okowa who commended Ofagbe community for their hospitality said “the enthusiasm you have displayed today shows that the community will protect this project, when the school starts operation it will create greater unity between the community and people that will come here to school and teach, it will also boost the economic activity of the place.”

The governor who was taking round the school by the school Principal, Mr. Otavboruo Christopher and the site engineer, Shola Oladipo inspected the school staff quarters, hostel blocks, workshops, and class room blocks under construction .

Earlier, the President General Of Ofagbe Community, Dr. Christopher Akpotu thanked the governor for choosing the technical school among the first to be renovated in the state, stating that it would wonderfully elevate the community.
