Official: Police declare IBB aide, Afegbua, wanted

Admin February 6, 2018

This is official: The Inspector -General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the immediate arrest of Kassim Afegbua, media aide to former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida.

He is being wanted for allegedly making false statements, injurious falsehood, defamation of character and for act capable of inciting public disturbance.

A statement by the FPRO, CSP Jimoh Moshood on Monday in Abuja, said Afegbua should report to the nearest police station in the country.

Afegbua had in a statement quoted Babangida as asking President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek reelection.

Babangida had authenticated the statement by Afegbua, stressing that the statement reflected his opinion except the portion which asked Buhari not to run in 2019. IBB had said Buhari has the right to contest but added that he would rather the younger generation show more interest in politics.
