Across four states – Rivers, Benue, Edo and Ebonyi – supporters of Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential candidate took to the streets to register their loyalty to the Peter Obi-Yusuf Ahmed-Datti ticket.

The rallies which took place simultaneously shocked nay-sayers as youths and the old massed across the states chanting Peter Obi’s name.

The  rallies are achieving many purposes aside raising a consciousness about the Obi-Datti ticket. They are giving credence to the statement credited to Obi the day he declared for presidency. Obi had said: “I’ll be a very strong contender!”

And if crowd is a barometer to measure popularity, it is safe to say that Obi is popular among Nigerians as those marching for him cut across all religions and ethnic nationalities.

In Port Harcourt, one of the Obi-dients, Mike Wosu, described the huge crowd as men and women of sacrifice and peerless patriotism. He said the crowd is organic as it continues to grow by the minutes.

Similar mammoth crowds were recorded in Edo, Benue and Ebonyi states.
