Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has encouraged Nigerians to document their achievements for the benefit of others.

Obi made this statement at the public presentation of Sen. Chris Anyanwu’s book, “Bold Leap,” in Abuja on Monday.

Obi commended Anyanwu for her remarkable documentary, emphasising the importance of documenting experiences for future generations.

“Writing makes all the difference,” he said, highlighting the significance of learning from others’ accomplishments, particularly in a society where role models are scarce.

President Bola Tinubu, represented by Minister of Special Duties Zephaniah Jisalo, lauded Anyanwu’s book, expressing confidence that it would inspire and guide Nigerian youth.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo described the book as “a documentation of exploits and victories over life’s challenges and troubles.”

Obasanjo commended Anyanwu for her resilience and contributions to Nigeria’s development.

Sen. Shehu Sani shared his personal experiences, including his imprisonment alongside Anyanwu and Obasanjo during the Abacha regime.

Sani commended Anyanwu’s courage and passion, noting that she encouraged fellow prisoners and those awaiting trial.

The book review by Segun Adeniyi, Chairman of the Editorial Board of Thisday Newspaper, highlighted Anyanwu’s personal struggles and triumphs.

Adeniyi noted that the book provided an unfiltered view of the challenges Nigerian women face in politics.

“Throughout her tribulations, Anyanwu’s spirit remained unwavering, and her resilience in the face of adversity was profoundly inspiring.

“As a woman of remarkable courage and equality, she endured mental, emotional, and psychological trauma, yet remained unbroken.

“Her journey took her through various prisons, including those in Kiri, Jos, Gombe, and Kaduna. In spite of these experiences, Anyanwu remained true to herself.

“While incarcerated in Kaduna Prison, she devoted herself to reading and began writing commentaries on various subjects,” Adeniyi said.

Anyanwu urged Nigerians to share their stories, emphasising the importance of documenting their experiences for future generations.

She encouraged Nigerians to write their own books, creating a repository of knowledge about key players in the country.

Other dignitaries in attendance included former President Goodluck Jonathan, who was represented by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim.

Additional notable guests comprised former SGF Boss Mustapha and former Anambra State Governor Chris Ngige. (NAN)
