Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State and candidate of the PDP in the Edo governorship election is clearly coasting to victory winning in 12 of the 14 local government areas whose results has been released by INEC.
The margin is so wide that pundits have projected Obaseki winner by a landslide.
INEC has collated results from 14 local government areas out of 18 local government areas of Edo .
The Resident Electoral Commissioner for INEC in Edo, Mr Johnson Alalibo, gave the name of the Returning Officer for Edo governorship election, to include Prof. Akpofure Rem-Rukeh, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Petroleum Resources, Effuru.
Alalibi declared that the results from 13 local government were ready for collation
“This is final stage of the election and I urge urged you to be calm, if you have any protest we will recognise you to speak,” he said.

Meantime, Governor Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for allowing a level-playing ground for all contestants in the Edo poll. Tambuwal who is the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum warned agencies of government including INEC not to abuse their privileges but to continue to respect the rules governing the election.
