Champions Plateau United rallied back to earn a share of the spoils against Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Wednesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the game was a rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 16 encounter.

Olisema put hosts Akwa United ahead in the 53rd minute while Plateau United, who were without several of their key players in the game, netted the equaliser 16 minutes from time through Hamzat Owolabi.

The result put a dent on both teams’ ambition of winning the league.

Plateau United moved from sixth to fourth in the table following the result, while Akwa United climbed a step from eighth to seventh.

In a rescheduled matchday 17 encounter, Enyimba were also held to a 1-1 draw at home by FC Ifeanyi Ubah at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar.

The hosts went behind two minutes before the break through Seka Pascal, while Ibrahim Mustapha levelled scores for them a minute after the hour mark.

The result meant the Peoples’ Elephant moved to eighth, while the Anambra Warriors are on the 10th position.

Yobe Desert Stars scored a last minute winner through Philip Asuquo to earn a 1-0 win against MFM in Damaturu also on Wednesday.

The result saw the hosts move from 14th to 12th on the log, while MFM are on 11th.
