Operations by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) across several state commands have led to the arrest of multiple crime suspects, recovery of stolen vehicles, firearms, and livestock, alongside ongoing rescue efforts for kidnapped victims.

According to an operational summary released by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, key breakthroughs were recorded between August 22 and August 25, 2026, across Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Ekiti, Lagos, Gombe, Bauchi, Zamfara, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Key Suspect Arrests and Item Recoveries

Oyo State: Operatives along the Ibadan–Ilorin Expressway intercepted a stolen Lexus RX 350 following intelligence on a trans-border armed robbery syndicate. Two suspects, Adewale Abiola (33) and Kabiru Abobarin (36), were arrested after a foot pursuit. Recovered items included the SUV, four laptops, an iPhone 15 Pro Max, seven wristwatches, and jewellery.

Akwa Ibom State: The Eagle Response Squad arrested five suspected armed robbers in Uyo identified through CCTV footage. Detectives recovered two locally-made pistols and shirts linked to the operation.

Ekiti State: Responding to an attack in Ijadu Community, police engaged armed hoodlums, arresting three suspected cultists. Items recovered included a single-barrel gun, an axe, an expended cartridge shell, and charms.

Lagos State: Operatives conducting a stop-and-search operation at Alakija apprehended an armed robbery suspect following a distress call, recovering a prototype shotgun, cash, and two stolen Android phones.

Gombe State: Following an armed robbery attack in Pata, Yamaltu-Deba LGA, police recovered two stolen cows in Balanga LGA.

FCT Command: Police recovered an abandoned Toyota Prado Jeep left at a car wash in Mpape.

Kidnap Rescue Operations and Security Interventions
Joint security operations involving tactical teams, local vigilantes, hunters, and the military have been activated following abductions in several states:

Oyo & FCT: Joint teams are combing bushes in Iseyin, Oyo State, and tracking abductors in Kwali, FCT, where three empty K-2 ammunition shells were recovered at the scene.

Bauchi & Zamfara: Rescue operations are underway following kidnapping incidents in Itas/Gadau LGA (Bauchi) as well as Gusau and Talata Mafara LGAs (Zamfara).

All cases are currently under active investigation by State Criminal Investigation Departments (SCID) across the respective commands.
