NIGERIAN TROOPS RETURN HOME FROM ECOWAS MISSION IN GUINEA

Admin July 12, 2023

July 12, 2023

Nigerian contingent comprising two officers and 82 soldiers participating in the ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission (SSM) in Guinea Bissau has successfully returned to the country on expiration of their tour of duty.

The first batch of the troops landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja by exactly 11:25 pm local time on Monday 10 July 2023.

Similarly, troops comprising nine officers and 77 soldiers deployed to take over from them departed the Airport same day at about 08:13 am enroute Guinea Bissau.

It would be recalled that a bloc of West African nations began deploying stabilization force to Guinea Bissau after the country was thrown into turmoil when its President escaped a coup attempt in February.
