Nigeria, U.S. Deepen Ties as Solid Minerals Delegation Visits White House for Critical Mineral Investment

Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake

Nigeria’s Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Dele Alake, has led a delegation from the Nigeria Solid Minerals Company (NSMC) to the White House in Washington, D.C., to hold strategic, high-level investment talks with key United States officials.

The bilateral meeting focused on strengthening economic cooperation and attracting substantial foreign direct investment into Nigeria’s critical minerals sector.

Key Highlights of the White House Engagement
High-Level Security & Supply Chain Discussions: The delegation met with David Copley, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Global Supply Chain at the U.S. National Security Council.

Strategic Advisory Consultations: Minister Alake also held discussions with Diana London, Chief Executive Officer of the prominent strategic communications and public affairs consultancy, DCI Group.

End-to-End Mineral Sector Collaboration: Talks spanned the full spectrum of the mining value chain, focusing specifically on:

Geological exploration

Mining and mineral processing

In-country value addition and refining

Building secure, resilient supply chains for energy transition minerals

Alignment with National Economic Goals
In a statement issued in Abuja, the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Segun Tomori (referencing official ministry updates), emphasised that the engagement aligns directly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The initiative prioritises economic diversification, industrialisation, job creation, and local value addition. By driving investment-led cooperation with the U.S., Nigeria aims to position itself as a central player in global sustainable mineral development while securing shared economic prosperity.”
