The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Gombe state has commenced training of additional 165 unemployed persons in Gombe on skills acquisition.

NDE State Coordinator, Malam Ibrahim Audu disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Gombe.

He said that the agency had so far trained 2,000 persons between January and April as part of its efforts to empower Nigerians, especially the youth.

“The additional 165 participants are going to be trained in various skills like cosmetology, computer training, barbing, metal fabrication and phone repairs.

“At the initial stage we recruited about 2,000 participants across 11 local government areas of the state”, he said.

Audu noted that among the current participants are 116 women to be trained in cosmetology while the remaining 49 males will be trained in other vocations.

According to him, the training for the cosmetology will last for two weeks while the other vocations will last three months.

He said that the Federal Government had released the training allowances for the beneficiaries and trainers.
“Those for cosmetology are going to be given N1, 000 each, those in other skills N2, 000 as transport allowances monthly and the master trainers are to be given N2, 000 monthly.

He advised the beneficiaries to pay attention and acquire the knowledge for them to be able to set up their own businesses and become employers of labour.
