The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seized 509 pieces of raw donkey skin, 460kg of dried donkey meat and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), worth N98.3 million, in Adamawa and Taraba States.Mr. Muhammad Tako, Area Comptroller in charge of the Adamawa and Taraba Command, disclosed this during a press briefing on Wednesday in Yola.
He said the seizures were made within six weeks to curb smuggling and protect the Nigerian economy.
Tako said other items seized include 43 jumbo sacks of secondhand clothing, as well as five cartons and 12 packages of Viagra 200mg tablets.
“Other items listed above were seized with an aggregate Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N98.3 million.
“These seizures were carried out pursuant to the provisions of Sections 150, 245 and 246 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023,” he said.
He added that they also fall under Schedule 6 (Export Prohibition List) of the Common External Tariff (CET).
He further encouraged smugglers to embrace legitimate business.
