MTN Nigeria Communications Plc has announced the renewal of its Unified Access Service (UAS) and Spectrum for wireless local loop 900MHz and 1800MHz band licences by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC.

This is contained in a notice by MTN Nigeria signed by the Company Secretary, Mrs Uto Ukpanah and  posted on the website of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited on Wednesday in Lagos.

Ukpanah, in the notice, said that the NCC had formally notified the company of the renewals.

According to her, the licences which expired Aug. 31, 2021, have now been renewed for a further 10-year period, effective from Sept. 1.

She stated that the NCC had also acknowledged the receipts of N71.6 billion for the spectrum licence and N374.6 million for the UAS licence in settlement of their invoices for the period from Sept. 1 to Aug. 31, 2031.

The Chief Executive Officer, MTN Nigeria, Mr Karl Toriola, commenting on the renewals said: “Renewing our licences for another 10 years is very important to our business and enables us to continue to provide services to ensure the benefits of a modern connected life for our people.

“MTN Nigeria is delighted with its strong partnership with the NCC and looks forward to working closely with the commission and the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, to accelerate the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy,” he said. (NAN)
