The husband of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, the Alema of Warri Kingdom has said that he is aware of Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s several sexual harassment of his wife.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Warri High Chief following allegations and denials that Akpabio sexually harassed Senator Natasha.

Political Economist NG reports that on Friday, Senator Natasha had accused Akpabio of making inappropriate advances towards her during a visit to the Senate President’s residence in Akwa Ibom in December 2023.

Uduaghan statement

Speaking in an interview with ARISE NEWS, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) recounted how Akpabio sexually harassed her in December 2023, a day before their birthdays as they are birthday mates.

“It all started the day before his birthday and my birthday because we are birthday mates. We were all in Akwa Ibom. At first, we were in his house at Ikot Ekpene. Then we all went to his house in Uyo, then he held my hands, walking around from room to room, he showed me the beautiful interiors. He got to this particular sitting room and asked me if I liked his house. I said of course, Sir, every room is beautiful, quality taste. He said, now you are a senator, I am going to create time for us to come create quality moments here. You will enjoy it.’ At that point, I just pulled away because I didn’t understand what he meant.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan said her husband later warned her against travelling alone or visiting the Senate President’s residence.

But in statement dated 1st March, 2025, the Alema of Warri confirmed he was aware that Akpabio, whom he called a family friend, had been making inappropriate advances at his wife, Senator Natasha.

Uduaghan in the statement said he had respectfully approached the Senate President on the issue and asked that his wife be treated with respect.

According to him, Akpabio’s refusal to back off led to his wife frustration which has led to her public outcry.

He said he and Akpabio reached an agreement to resolve any difference but that despite the agreement, Akpabio continues to undermine his wife and to keep making inappropriate advances at her.

“I have unwavering faith in my wife’s loyalty and am fully committed to our marriage, which is grounded in love, compassion, and mutual respect. I would never trade her for anything as she is the greatest joy of my life,” he stated.
