The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has sustained intensive, round-the-clock recovery operations at the crash site of its ATR 42-500 aircraft (NAF 931) in Igbokoda, Ondo State, as the mission entered its 14th day on Sunday.
The operational update was disclosed in a statement released on Monday in Abuja by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
According to Ejodame, continuous pumping operations have significantly lowered water levels at the marshy crash location.
Recovery teams are working to drain the remaining water, subject to weather and ground conditions, while reinforcing embankments with sandbags to prevent collapse and ensure site stability.
Dewatering and structural reinforcement continue under difficult environmental conditions, highlighting the extreme technical complexity of the recovery mission.
Inter-Agency & Corporate Collaboration: Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, praised the resilience and professionalism of the joint recovery team and extended special appreciation to Hitech Construction Company for its technical support.
Ongoing Investigation & Support: The NAF reiterated its commitment to completing the recovery operation safely and methodically to assist the ongoing formal investigation into the cause of the crash.
Condolences to Families: The Air Force leadership expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved families, acknowledging the profound pain and anguish caused by the tragedy.

The NAF assured the public that recovery personnel and technical experts will remain on site until all wreckage components and relevant evidence are fully recovered to aid crash investigators.
