The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says the Air component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) successfully foiled a terrorist assault on troops in Rann, Borno, neutralising several fleeing insurgents.

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, made this known in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

Ejodame said the operation was conducted in the early hours of Friday.

He said the counter-offensive was executed through coordinated Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Air Interdiction (AI) missions, following credible intelligence of an imminent attack.

He explained that the air component established contact with ground forces and tracked clusters of insurgents attempting to escape after the foiled assault.

“Precision munitions were employed to engage the fleeing terrorists, resulting in the neutralisation of several of them and the restoration of calm in the area.

“This swift and decisive action underscores the NAF’s unwavering commitment to providing close air support to troops, safeguarding communities, and neutralising insurgent threats with speed,” he added.
