A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna on Thursday ordered that a 32-year-old man, Mustapha Musa, who attempted to rape a 12-year-old, be remanded in a correctional centre.

Musa, who resides in Ungwan Sarki in Kaduna, is charged with attempted rape.

Magistrate Umar Ibrahim, who did not take the plea of Musa, ordered the police to return the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

He adjourned the matter until March 30 for hearing.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that Musa committed the offence on Feb. 28 at about 1.45 p.m at Ungwan Sarki Kaduna.

Leo alleged that Musa grabbed and attempted to rape the girl after she returned on an errand for him.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 259 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law. (NAN)
