Facts have emerged that Mafab Communications Limited which won the auction for 5G spectrum alongside  MTN Nigeria was registered in 2020 with the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC.

The company was registered on July 8, 2020 with address at No. 8A Ibiyinka Olorunbo Close, Off Amodu Ojikutu Street, Victoria Island with registration number 1684039.

This explains why many were shocked at it emergence as one of the final bidders competing with already established names in the continental telecom market. Many rated Mafab the dark horse in the race given the pedigree and perceived deep pockets of MTN Nigeria and Airtel.

Mafab is promoted  and owned by a quiet magnate, Dr Musbahu Muhammad Bashir, who is the Chairman of Althani Group of companies, and Cobalt International Services Limited since 2004.

He is also a Director in the following companies: Jaiz Bank where he has huge equity, Bento Drill Nigeria Limited 1995, Offshore Technologies International Limited 1995, and Resource Capital Group 1995. Cobalt International Services Limited is a pre-shipment Inspection Agent for dry goods and bulk liquid cargoes.

They are currently inspection agents for oil and gas exports in the country.

Alhaji Bashir also worked with Hammad Development Facilities in 1987 and Jadai Diversified Services in 1989.
