Lagos State Government is sponsoring 12 young leaders, which include the State Youth Ambassador, Five Divisional Youth Ambassadors and Six Young Transformational Leaders to a leadership training in Helsinki, Finland.

The leadership training for the contingent will be held at the Management Institute of Finland in Helsinki, while the trainees are also expected to visit some interesting educational and historical sites in Helsinki afterwards.

The delegation, led by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende and the Permanent Secretary Pharm. (Mrs.)Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu will also participate in a holistic workshop that focuses on leadership traits, leadership skills and cultural exchange.

The training workshop, according to the Commissioner, will equip the young leaders with the skills needed for effective global leadership.

He disclosed that the trainees will also be visiting Vocational/Training Centres, as Finland is famous for its great achievement in integrating Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) into its educational system.

The International trip, the Commissioner said, is in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Developmental Agenda of the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu in the area of youth engagement and social inclusion.

He said: “This trip is a testament to the promise of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for continued youth engagement, empowerment and investment in the teeming population of youths in the State.

“These vibrant youths are expected to unlearn, learn and relearn with a global mindset and positively impact their sphere and circle of influence upon returning to the State”, he said.

Similarly, the Permanent Secretary, Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu said the study tour will give the youths the opportunity for exposure and experience that will enable them to perform better in all areas of life.

She added, “As a Ministry statutorily saddled with the responsibility of youth engagement, we are determined to contribute towards the actualisation of Mr. Governor’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Developmental Agenda which can only be done by continuous engagement and mentoring through international global standards”.
