As a way of proffering sustainable solution to power-related issues in Lagos State, the Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources will meet all relevant stakeholders in the power sector to discuss the proposed Lagos State Electricity Policy.

The Honourable Commissioner for Energy & Mineral Resources, Engr. Olalere Odusote, spoke in his office at Alausa, Ikeja, on Friday, informing that the session will hold on Wednesday, 11th August 2021 virtually.

He explained that the Electricity Policy will serve as a blueprint for universal access to electricity in the State and also accelerate the “Light-up Lagos” initiative when it becomes operational.
Engr. Odusote advised concerned stakeholders to register ahead for the session to receive log in details for the event via: https://teams.microsoft.com/…/0he81RBJA0SGuWcvMnTy-Q…

“The Lagos Electricity Policy is vital to making Lagos State a 21st Century Economy – one of the goals of the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda. It will serve as a key driver for the social and economic development aspirations of the State in line with the Government’s 30-year Development Plan (2021 – 2051) being developed”, the Commissioner explained.

Informing that several efforts are currently underway to improve access to electricity in the State, including the Lagos Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), the retrofit of all streetlights to efficient LED bulbs as well as improving electricity supply to public health facilities, Odusote also mentioned that partnerships are in place to produce and provide locally-designed smart meters, through the Lagos Smart Hackathon, to low-income communities.
