LASG, BOSCH NIGERIA, SOLUTION 17 PARTNER FOR CLIMATE ACTION

The Lagos State Government, Bosch Nigeria, Creative Youth Community Development Initiative – Solution17 for Climate Action, and the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Nigeria have initiated a partnership to implement “Trees From Art” in Lagos State.

The partnership was in response to a call made by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the launch of the initiative with stakeholders, environmentalists and young persons to support the State and make the environment green, habitable and safe.

Reacting to the development, the Managing Director of Bosch in Nigeria, Mr. Ghislain Nounbessy, noted that Climate Change is one of the biggest challenges facing humanity and, stemming it is a task for society at large.

Nounbessy said: “At Bosch, we play a pioneering role in climate action, and we are committed to Carbon Neutrality and have left no carbon footprint. We achieve this using more green energy, investment in a new clean power source, offsetting where necessary and developing innovative solutions to improve our energy efficiency”.

He spoke further saying, “Bosch is committed to climatic innovation, and creating a Comprehensive Technology System that will support the “Trees From Art” project throughout its life cycle.

At the Tree Planting and Data Capturing exercise, a total of 100 economic trees were planted at the Lagos State Model College, Badore, with the support of Bosch Nigeria.

As part of this initiative, the school management inaugurated the Creative Club50 in Junior and Senior schools to aid training and capacity building, where 100 Students designated as Tree Managers will monitor and care for the trees in line with the designed module on Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Environmental Education, ArtNovation and SDGs.

In her remarks, the CEO of Climate 17 and Project Coordinator, Foluke Michael, affirmed that the organisation’s partnership with one of the world’s best technology companies, Bosch Nigeria, will support the attainment of SDGs.

She also revealed that the partnership includes the Solution17 Trees From Art FOREST initiative that is to be unveiled in the 1st week of June.

“The technology will help businesses integrate tree planting into their processes by connecting customers to its sustainability journey, set up loyalty programmes, facilitate trees for employee engagement and rewards as well as promoting transparency carbon offsetting programme,” she added.

The “Trees From Art” initiative aims to plant 100,000 Economic Trees and embark on Climate Education, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Technology, and Artnovation in secondary and technical schools in Lagos State.
