LASEMA Confirms Zero Casualties in Ogba School Building Incident

Admin March 10, 2026

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) says no life was lost in the incident involving a three-storey school building at Yemco Schools, Aguda, Ogba, Lagos.

The Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said, in a statement on Tuesday, that he visited the site at 11, Adu Street, behind County Hospital, where the incident occurred earlier in the day.

He said emergency responders from LASEMA and other first responders were immediately deployed to the scene for rescue operations and safety assessment.

According to him, a thorough search confirmed that all persons within the vicinity were accounted for and no casualties were recorded.

He explained that because no lives were lost, the situation was classified as an emergency incident rather than a disaster.

The permanent secretary said emergency teams secured the environment and conducted safety checks to ensure no victims were trapped in the structure.

He reaffirmed that the safety of residents, students and staff remained a top priority for the Lagos state government.

He also cautioned against the spread of misleading information circulating on social media following the incident.

According to him, inaccurate reports and exaggerated claims can cause unnecessary panic and hinder emergency response operations.

He urged the public and media to rely on verified information released by official agencies such as LASEMA and other authorised bodies.

He added that the Lagos state government would continue to assess building safety and enforce regulations to protect lives.

The permanent secretary reassured residents that the situation had been fully contained and there was no cause for alarm.
