Admin December 3, 2021
ministry of education

Dec. 3, 2021

The Lagos State Government has ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen College, Lekki , pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, a student of the school.

In a statement by Ganiu Lawal, Asst Director, Public Affairs, Ministry of Education on Friday, Commissioner for Education Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo announced the closure after a meeting with the School Management and Staff.

The statement further noted that the Commissioner called for calm, saying no effort will be spared in getting to the root of the incident.

Recall that the school had on Thursday following the controversial circumstance surrounding the death of Sylvester Oromoni a 12-year-old student announced that it will be temporarily shutting down.

In a newsletter sent through email to parents and guardians by the school’s management, the school stated that it will be closed for two days, following the death of one of their students, Sylvester.

The student was said to have allegedly revealed to his parents how he was beaten by 5 students for refusing to join a cult before his passing.
