Lagos COVID-19 cases inching closer to 9000 – NCDC

The number of COVID-19 cases in Lagos State now stands at 8,864, according to data released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday.

The NCDC announced thus in its COVID-19 Outbreak Report for June 22.

According to the report, Lagos accounts for 288 new COVID-19 infections out of the 675 new cases recorded as at June 22, 2020.

Lagos remains the epicentre of the pandemic in Nigeria, with 8,864 of the 20,919 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

The report states further that Lagos discharged four patients on Monday, bringing the number of discharged COVID-19 patients patients to 1,448 so far,  7,290 cases are currently active, while no death was recorded.

NCDC however noted that no new State recorded a confirmed COVID-19 case in the last 24 hours.

“The total number of states including FCT that have reported at least one confirmed case in Nigeria is still 36 (35 states + FCT)”.

“Two hundred and thirty (230) cases were discharged in the last 24 hours in seventeen (17) states – Ebonyi (85), Edo (45), Rivers (18), Ondo (14), Oyo (9), Delta (6), Kaduna (6), Kano (6), Katsina (6),
Nasarawa (6), Plateau (6), Borno (5), Ogun (5), FCT (4), Gombe (4), Lagos (4) and Sokoto (1)”.

“Seven (7) new deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours in five States: Delta (3), Bayelsa (1), Ebonyi (1), Kano (1) and Ogun (1)”.
